13 Reasons Why S1 : E2 – Tape 1, Side B

“Welcome back. So glad you’re still listening. Are you having fun? You must be wondering who’s next and why. Is it you? What did you do? How did you end up on these tapes? Maybe you did something cruel. Or maybe you just watched it happen. Maybe you didn’t even realize you were being cruel. Maybe you didn’t do anything at all. And maybe you should have. Too late. I think you know exactly what you did. And after these tapes, you’ll never forget it. I know I won’t. Oh, and, uh, by the way… I’m still dead.”

Kayaknya Olly-Olly terlalu childish and so ancient kali ya, makanya diganti FML biar lebih modern dan sesuai umur

Pemeran Jessica Davis (Alisha Boe) cukup bagus aktingnya. Jenis suaranya cocok sama karakter Jessica yang menurut bukunya blak-blakan. I really like her voice and tone. Like I’ve heard so many times: To look pretty, you have to be comfortable in your own skin.

Tapi kalo diperhatikan lama-lama, Jessica memang cantik dan kulitnya eksotis. Belakangan, pas Hannah udah meninggal, penampilannya jadi nggak keurus. Ada jerawat pula. Satu, sih, tapi kayak kumal gitu. Kasihan.

Rambutnya Alex benar-benar menjadi pusat perhatianku. How blonde! His skin is so pale! God, he’s just so cute! Tapi enggak dengan perlakuannya pada Hannah!

Buat episode duanya, aku merasa sedikit kurang antusias dibanding dengan episode satu. I don’t really know why. Yang jelas, akting Katherine Langford, pemeran Hannah Baker, kurang begitu memuaskan. Kalau Dylan Minnette, pemeran Clay Jensen, masih oke. Aku lupa kalau suaranya dia ngebas, jadi agak kaget pas dengar dia ngomong, lol. I’m also not really satisfied with the cast of Mrs. Antily (Lisa Anne Morrison). Yah, memang begini kalau baca bukunya dulu. Kadang banyak pertentangan. Untunglah Mrs. Antily bukan tokoh penting.

So, it’s a good thing, right?

So pretty and sweet, really match her fragile personality. How come?

So, that’s all my opinion for this episode. I hope the next episode will be more engaging.

MY FINE LINE

Friendship. It’s complicated. But don’t worry. You won’t go through this alone. That’s not fun. Trust me. I’ve been there.”

(Hannah Baker)

“Now, it won’t always be easy. It might even hurt a bit. Or a bit more than a bit. That depends on you. But fear not, we’ll get through this. Step by step, tape by tape. You and me. Together. And don’t forget… there are others.”

(Hannah Baker)

He’s 17. I’d be worried about him if he weren’t keeping secrets.”

(Matt Jensen)

“Secret-keeping is learned behavior. As is the silence.”

(Lainie Jensen)

What? Feeling paranoid? On edge? Yeah. High school does that to a person. You never really know who you can trust. And who you can’t. So keep your wits about you. It’s all part of the game. But, remember, it’s not a game. Not at all.”

(Hannah Baker)

Do adults understand how friendships work?”

(Hannah Baker)

“Hot chocolate is the cure for all things shitty in life.”

(Jessica Davis)

Dialogue:

Jessica: I had this friend, Amy. I told her everything, including my series of embarrassing sex dreams, featuring various Avengers, including Scarlett Johansson. And then one day, you know, the moving trucks come. And I’m like, “Bye! Don’t tell anyone about that Scarlett Johansson thing!” But she posts about it because that’s the only communication you ever have anymore.
Hannah: And it ends up getting around your new school.

Jessica: And gets completely twisted.
Hannah: So you end up That Girl.
Jessica: I am so That Girl.
Hannah: I’m That Other Girl.

It was a hot chocolate friendship. Good for cold months, but maybe not perfect for all seasons.”

(Hannah Baker)

“Day after day, drink after drink. We lifted our mugs and we lifted each other. In spite of our differences, we were what we each needed at that moment in time. Three drinks against the world. Two hot chocolates, and whatever the hell Alex was drinking.”

(Hannah Baker)

“I’m not great at math, but here’s one thing I learned for sure: one plus one plus one… is not a simple equation.”

(Hannah Baker)

Dialogue:

Hannah: That shit’ll kill you, you know.
Clay: You got a salad from McDonald’s, the people who make Big Mac.
Hannah: Are you you fat-shaming my salad?
Clay: You called my lunch a murderer.

Dialogue:

Hannah: Do you think I could ever be as pretty as Jessica Davis?
Clay: —
Hannah: Great. Thanks. Got it.
Clay: No, I-I just… I mean, yeah, Jessica’s pretty and all, but your special.
Hannah: Special. Like retarded.
Clay: Did I say retarded? I didn’t say retarded, and I don’t think we’re supposed to use that word anymore.
Hannah: Regardless… I saw you try to be kind… and, you know, fail.
Clay: Wait, I didn’t—Wait, how did this conversation go so wrong, so fast?
Hannah: It’s how you’re socialized. I keep thinking you’re some different kind of male. Clearly, there’s no such thing.

“When Jessica has something on her mind, she lets you know. And I knew what she wanted to talk about. Alex’s list. You see, that’s just how it works in high school. Boys talk, girls listen… and everything gets messed up. Or at least that’s how it was with us. Right, Jess?”

(Hannah Baker)

Well, you can’t know rumors. You can hear them, but you can know them.”

(Hannah Baker)

“You needed it to be my fault. So it was my fault.”

(Hannah Baker)

Dialogue:

Clay: Why did you and Hannah fight? I don’t get it.
Jessica: Of course you don’t. You’re a guy.
Clay: You guys were friends.
Jessica: We weren’t friends. Friends tell the truth, friends don’t turn on each other. Hannah’s a user and a liar. You can’t believe anything that she says. Not a thing. I mean, what she said, on the tapes, about us and Monet’s, she’s the one who stopped coming, not me. She’s the one who ended our friendship, and she knew it. She’s a liar. Was a liar.

“Losing a good friend is never easy. Especially when you don’t understand why you lost them in the first place. Like I said, it’s complicated.”

(Hannah Baker)
